Whiskey Sour

Rounded, soft, oaky notes are cut through with lemony citrus in this classic old-timer: the Whiskey Sour is a rye whiskey or bourbon-based version of one of the world’s most famous cocktails.

  • 50mlBourbon

  • 25mlLemon Juice

  • 10mlSugar Syrup

  • 1dash(es) Angostura Bitters

  • 2piece(s) Egg White

  • 1wedge(s) Lemon

1.9 units of alcohol per serve

Equipment

  • 1 x Short glass

  • 1 x Ice

  • 1 x Jigger

  • 1 x Strainer

Method

  • Ice

    Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.

  • Pour

    Use a jigger to measure 50ml Bourbon, 25ml lemon juice, 10ml sugar syrup and a dash of angostura bitters into the shaker. Add 2 egg whites.

  • Mix

    Shake the mixture vigorously until the surface of the cocktail shaker feels chilled. Using a cocktail strainer, strain the cocktail into a short glass.

  • Garnish

    Use a sharp knife to cut a wedge of lemon on a chopping board and place on top of the drink to garnish.

  • Grab a bite

    Get some grub in before or while you’re drinking – it slows alcohol absorption.
